Government and Economics Newsletter #6
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What a superb class of seniors we have! It was another wonderful week of teaching and learning.
This week, we learned about voting, campaigning, and elections, and practiced media literacy sourcing skills. We did a Unit 1 Exam Retake focusing on FRQs today; those grades will be entered within a week.
Shoutouts to Emy Blanton for a great job leading an interactive Current Event facilitation, Tiffany Christie and Alice Pak for doing a professional, first-class job hosting the first Fashion Club meeting, and Jayden Reitmeyer for great media literacy sourcing. I'm proud of all these amazing Eagles here at Vista!
Next week, we will have our Unit 2 Test on Monday, then begin Unit 3. Students can best study by filling out the study guide, then explaining the concepts out loud without looking at their notes.
I want to ensure you're aware that the October "midterms" are really the Final for the Government section of the class. Grades will be finalized and entered on the transcript. After that, we switch to Economics with a fresh start on grades. As much as I love teaching Government, I might love Economics even more!
In case email isn't the best method of reaching you, this newsletter will also be posted on my Vista teacher website. https://www.fcusd.org/Page/42812
Thank you for entrusting me with teaching your child. Please don't hesitate to email me with any concerns.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Alex Dash, M.Ed.
