FCEA & FCUSD Joint Negotiations Update: Oct. 11, 2017
-A 2% salary increase for the 2016-17 school year, retroactive to July 1, 2016.
-An additional 1% salary increase effective July 1, 2017.
-Effective July 1, 2017, increases to the district’s health benefit cap:
-Single medical cap increase by $50, from $575 to $625
-Family medical cap increase by $100, from $800 to $900.
-An agreement for the District to provide special education teachers four release days per year for the purpose of writing Individualized Education Programs and other job-related duties
-In each of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years, one professional development day will be added to the teacher work year.
Timeline for Retroactive Payment:
2017-18: The new ongoing salary rate, plus one-time retroactive pay (1% salary and medical cap increase) will be included on certificated employees’ Oct. 31 paycheck.
2016-17: Certificated employees who were on the salary schedule in 2016-17 will receive a separate check on Nov. 15 with retroactive pay for the entire 2016-17 school year (2%).
Note: Per the agreement, only FCEA members who are active employees at the time of the agreement’s ratification (Oct. 5) are eligible to receive retroactive payments.

During their regular bargaining meeting Thursday, Oct. 5, teams from FCUSD and FCEA discussed ongoing items, including:
-Agreed to begin a comprehensive update to job descriptions for all unit members starting with the following job titles:
-Speech and Language Pathologist
-Special Education Teacher
-Continued review and discussion of Professional Development language, as well as minor contract language revisions. The teams discussed a goal of presenting an updated contract in November.
-Began discussion and consideration of modifying the hiring timeline for teachers in future academic years.
