Congratulations to Vista del Lago and Folsom High for being recognized as California Distinguished Schools for 2021! They join Folsom Middle, which was named a 2021 Distinguished School in March.

The California Department of Education (CDE) recognizes outstanding elementary and secondary education programs in alternate years, with schools holding the title for two years. In 2021, California is honoring middle and high schools.

"The California Distinguished School award is a huge accomplishment for our entire school community,” said Vista del Lago Principal, Lori Emmington. “In a year filled with challenges, I could not be more proud of our team for their dedication and resilience.”

The Distinguished School recognition is awarded to schools based on performance and progress on state indicators. In March, the department honored 102 schools. After a review of the 2021 data, the CDE has identified an additional 120 schools, including Vista del Lago and Folsom High, to receive this high distinction.

“The recognition of Folsom High as a State Distinguished School is a testament to our parent, teacher, student, community partnership and our collective commitment to education,” said Folsom High Principal, Howard Cadenhead. “We recognize that these relationships are core to our success and we do not take them for granted.”
