PHOTOS: Carl Sundahl celebrates new school, new era

Families and students at a photo booth at Carl Sundahl's ribbon cutting Hundreds gathered Friday, Sept. 21 to celebrate the completion of a two-year modernization of Carl Sundahl Elementary School, a project that transformed the aging campus into a new, modern school.

The ribbon-cutting - attended by students, families, school employees, District leadership, and project architects and managers - marked the culmination of an ambitious $20.4 million project funded by Measure G, the bond approved by Folsom voters in 2014 for school upgrades.

The project brings the school into the 21st century, with new flexible seating and learning spaces in the classrooms. Portable classrooms have been removed and replaced with brand new, permanent structures. Other new features include a library/media center, new shade structures, a kindergarten building, new parking lot and drop-off lanes, a school garden, and new play structures.
