Reflections Competition Winners Awarded At District Ceremony
January 21, 2014
Forty eight talented students, ranging from elementary school to high school, received awards at the 2014 Reflections Awards Ceremony. These students won in various arts categories, including Musical Composition, Literature, Film Production, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Photography.
Winners of the PTA Reflections Competition competed against hundreds of other students at the District level. Winning works then moved on to the Third District level, which covers seven counties of California (Colusa, Sutter, Yolo, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yuba counties). Ten out of the forty eight winners also won at the Third District level, and are moving on to compete at the State level.
Minji Kim, Folsom High School Photography “Award of Excellence” (the highest-achieving award) winner, said, “I didn’t expect it at all, but I’m glad I got it. I’m so excited!”
Students spent many hours creating their original pieces of work for the competition. Professional judges reviewed the submissions and picked the winners based on their creative portrayal of the theme (“Believe, Dream, and Inspire”).
Caitlin Duffy, from Folsom High School, was thrilled she won the “Award of Excellence” in the Visual Arts category. She said, “I am so blessed. I’m glad that I could accept this award with friends and family at my side.”
The 2014 Reflections Awards Ceremony congratulated deserving students on their impressive artistic talents.
