Announcing FCUSD Leaders

At the May 18 Board Meeting, several new leaders were announced. Please welcome Kamaljit Pannu to Team FCUSD and congratulate some familiar names and faces who are taking on new roles.

Kamaljit Pannu: Executive Director, Human Resources

Kamaljit PannuFCUSD is pleased to announce Kamaljit Pannu as the Executive Director of Human Resources.

Mr. Pannu comes to us with over 20 years of experience in education, with positions that include being a Teacher and Principal for school districts throughout Sacramento County, and most recently, as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Washington Unified School District. 

With experience in strategic planning as well as instructional leadership, Mr. Pannu has worked to develop and implement programs to improve student achievement and tools to monitor performance and align resources. His experience in instruction has informed his leadership style in human resources, where he has created professional development programs and built shared leadership capacity for staff at all levels. His proven track record for positive negotiation outcomes and conflict resolution will serve the team at Folsom Cordova well.

A local resident, Mr. Pannu is excited to serve the community in which he lives and where he raises his family. 

Christy Wilkerson 

Christy WilkersonChristy Wilkerson has been named the Coordinator of Professional Development for Folsom Cordova. 

Christy Wilkerson is an experienced educator with 28 years in the profession spanning grades preschool - 12 and has been part of the Folsom Cordova Team since August 2000. She taught mathematics at both Folsom High and Vista del Lago High, before becoming a Lead Teacher for Mathematics for the District in 2011. Following her time at the District office, she became an administrator and served as Assistant Principal at both Mitchell Middle School and Folsom Middle School. She currently serves as the Principal of Cordova Villa Elementary School.

A collaborative leader who values clear communication and seeks optimized outcomes for all situations, Ms. Wilkerson will be a valuable addition to the instructional leadership for the District. 

Joanie Cunningham 

Joanie CunninghamFolsom Cordova is pleased to announce Joanie Cunningham as the Coordinator of New Teacher Support and Development.

Ms. Cunningham has 27 years of educational experience with 19 years of those years as an administrator. She started her career with Folsom Cordova as a teacher at Cordova Gardens Elementary and later became the Administrator for three elementary schools: Peter J. Shields, Sandra J. Gallardo, and Russell Ranch. She is a leader of leaders, serving as a mentor to new administrators, providing them with guidance, best-practices and techniques for continuous improvement. Her approach to teamwork and goal setting is a “Working Triangle model - incorporating the balance of relationships, knowledge, and leadership,” a philosophy that has proven successful. A stellar track record for academic success, schools under her leadership have been named California Distinguished Schools four times.

Ms. Cunningham lives in Folsom with her husband and two daughters, who are both students in FCUSD schools.

Carla Davis

Carlay DavisFolsom Cordova is pleased to announce Carla Davis as our Community Schools Coordinator. 

Mrs. Carla Davis currently serves as FCUSD's Community Schools Specialist, where she led a strength and needs assessment to support the writing of implementation grants to benefit qualifying schools. Prior to joining FCUSD, Mrs. Davis had three years of experience leading, merging, and designing community schools in the San Francisco East Bay Area. She previously served as a school site principal, school site academic coordinator, instructional specialist, and teacher in Sacramento County and Bay Area schools. She is passionate about building deep relationships, school climate change, Universal Design for Learning, Personalized Learning, and Professional Learning Communities. Mrs. Davis will continue to work with the Strategic Initiatives and Support Services Team and work with qualifying school sites to implement a community schools' mindset to support removing barriers to academic excellence.

Mrs. Davis earned her Bachelor of Arts and Administrative Credential from California State University, Sacramento, and her Teaching Credential and her Master of Arts degree from National University.

Mindy Andrus 

Mindy AndrusMindy Andrus has been selected to be the Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts for Folsom Cordova. 

Ms. Andrus began her career in education as an elementary school teacher in El Dorado County before joining Folsom Cordova in 2002. She started as a middle school teacher at Mills Middle School, where she later became a Vice Principal. 

A lifelong professional educator advocating for the whole child, Ms. Andrus has held the leadership role of the District’s Coordinator for Elementary Music, Art & PE. She works closely with her team to ensure that teachers are collaborating through Professional Learning Communities, and are planning with shared teaching strategies, common assessments, literature circles, and data study. She is committed to advancing high quality Visual and Performing Arts opportunities for all students with an emphasis on educational equity. Recently, Ms. Andrus led her Music Teaching team to reexamine the curricular choices & music selection to better reflect the diversity of the district’s schools, classes, families & communities.

Ms. Andrus holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership & Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with an emphasis in Fine Arts.
