PHOTOS: Students earn on-the-spot admissions at HBCU College Fairs

About 30 students from Folsom High and Cordova High recently had the opportunity to learn more about Historically Black Colleges and Universities - and several received on-the-spot admissions based on their grades and SAT scores!

The students took part in the annual HBCU fairs on Sept. 12 sponsored by the United College Action Network, which held sessions for students at Grant High School and El Camino High School in neighboring school districts.

The field trips to the college recruiting fairs were led by Folsom High counselors Clara Brown and Nikka Vaughan; Melody Smith-Williams, a Cordova High teacher and advisor to the school’s Black Student Union; Dr. Channa Cook-Harvey, the District’s Director of Social Emotional Learning; and parent volunteers.
