Viral film "Silent" earns first place in NCME Film & Media Awards

Silent Northern California Media Educators (NCME) held the Second Annual NCME Film and Media Awards Showcase on Sunday, April 24.  The winners in each category were selected by a pair of experienced industry professionals.

Folsom High freshman Lindsey Hunter received first place for her Short Story/Live Action of "Silent," which has gone viral with more than 400,000 views on our FCUSD Facebook page.

Lindsey has said that she wanted to make a project for this competition that would make a difference. Lindsey has been exposed to people with disabilities throughout her life: Her father is blind, and she said that is what inspired her to make this video.

Congratulations to several students who also placed in the showcase:
  • Second Place for Movie Trailer went to Folsom High's Xyre Quijana, Aravind Chinthada, Jacob Magpantay and Abdullah Faiyaz for producing "Hunted"
  • Third Place for Short Story/Animation went to Folsom High's Ryan Kohne for producing "Stains"
