FCUSD announces Interim Varsity Football Coach
FCUSD is pleased to announce that that Marque Willis has been named the Interim Head Varsity Football Coach for Cordova High School.
Coach Willis is a familiar face at Cordova High, where he has been serving as a counselor since the 2018-19 school year. Prior to joining the Lancer family, he devoted his time to athletic and academic pursuits. He played football for CSU, Sacramento from 2006 to 2010 where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He later went on to earn his master’s degree at CSU, San Jose.
Coach Willis is eager to begin coaching and will approach the time he spends with the student-athletes to lean in on motivators and strategies that will focus on academic success. He measures success when student-athletes excel in the classroom and bring the lessons of hard work, dedication, and teamwork to the game.
Coach Willis believes that our student-athletes are representatives of Cordova High on and off the field, and are important components of the long-standing traditions that have been the pride of Cordova High athletics. By mentoring his football players to be leaders, he hopes to expand interest and involvement with the football program, by creating a feeder program for middle school students.
An accomplished athlete, scholar, and caring counselor, it is with great enthusiasm we now welcome Coach Marque Willis as the interim varsity football coach for Cordova High School.
