Amy Strawn named CHS Principal
Folsom Cordova is pleased to announce that Amy Strawn has been selected as the Principal of Cordova High School.
Ms. Strawn became the Interim Principal for Cordova High last August to fill a sudden vacancy and has proved to be an outstanding leader, fostering positive school climate and high-caliber student learning. Prior to her role as Interim Principal for CHS, Ms. Strawn was the Principal of Mitchell Middle School and has served in multiple roles as a Teacher, Coordinator, and Administrator for Folsom Cordova schools since joining the District in 2007.
As the District’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator, for the District, Ms. Strawn supervised and coordinated all aspects of this globally recognized and distinguished programme for W. E. Mitchell Middle School and Cordova High School, making her uniquely qualified to navigate multi-faceted and high-caliber academic opportunities for all Lancer students.
Her time spent at Cordova High and Mitchell Middle School has allowed her to develop meaningful connections with the community’s students, families, and staff. She believes that her “role as an instructional leader is centered on facilitating an educational community where learning flourishes, and every student can reach their full potential.” Her approach is to take “a holistic approach to student learning that extends beyond academics and promotes social-emotional learning (SEL) and equity initiatives” so all students may thrive.
Ms. Strawn has earned several awards including Teacher of the Year for Mitchell Middle School in 2010 and Administrator of the Year in 2020, Aspiring Administrator of the Year in 2013 from ACSA Region 3, and Curriculum and Instruction in 2020 from ACSA Region 3. Ms. Strawn holds her Bachelor of Arts from Westmont College, and her Master of Arts from California State University, Sacramento.
