FCUSD Welcomes Three New Assistant Principals for 23-24

IIan Shepleyan Shepley: AP Mitchell Middle School

Folsom Cordova is pleased to announce Ian Shepley as the new Assistant Principal for Mitchell Middle School for this upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Mr. Shepley is joining us from the Houston area where he has been an Assistant Principal at the intermediate, middle, and high school levels. Before he became a campus administrator, he was a high school Social Studies teacher in Houston. Mr. Shepley holds a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Social Sciences and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. As a proud native of California, he is very excited to return to the Golden State and is grateful for the opportunity to join team FCUSD. While he is not working with teachers, students, and stakeholders, Mr. Shepley enjoys traveling, music, and learning about the cultures of the world.


Brooke HoppeBrooke Hoppe: AP Mills Middle School

Folsom Cordova is pleased to announce that Brooke Hoppe will become an Assistant Principal for Mills Middle School this upcoming school year.

Ms. Hoppe has over seventeen years in education, joining Folsom Cordova in 2014 as a high school English teacher. Currently, she serves Mills Middle School as an Academic Support Coach and Site Admin Designee, where she is instrumental in providing support for staff professional development in areas of Instruction, Intervention, Cultural Responsiveness, and Data Analysis. She is a District Equity Leader and is dedicated to bringing high levels of learning to each and every student. Described as “courageous and compassionate”, Ms. Hoppe “holds an uncompromising belief that all students are deserving and capable of success.”

Ms. Hoppe holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Urban Education.


Brian ZanBrian Zan: AP Sutter Middle School

Folsom Cordova welcomes Brian Zan as the newest Assistant Principal for Sutter Middle School.

With over 23 years of experience in education, Mr. Zan is a familiar face in the District, having served the last nine years as an administrator for Folsom Cordova Unified School District at secondary schools in both Folsom and Rancho Cordova. He has built and implemented strong PLC practices with staff and his commitment to creating safe and caring learning environments has resulted in strong two-way engagement with students and families. In the words of his colleague, he has “a unique talent for motivating students and building rapport.” His dedication to academics extends to his support of athletics. When not on campus, you can find him coaching youth soccer and basketball.

Mr. Zan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and a Master of Science in Educational Administration.
