VIDEO: Parents of children with autism promote awareness at Gold Ridge Elementary
World Autism Awareness Day was Monday, April 2. For the fourth year in a row, parent Bea McCloud, whose son Doug has autism, has organized an Autism Awareness Workshop for students and staff at Gold Ridge Elementary to promote awareness in the community.
A group of parent volunteers whose kids have autism and staff, including Principal David Frankel, work together to coordinate this learning experience for the Gold Ridge community. Students and staff learned about how people with autism communicate and learn going through different stations, which allowed them to walk away with a better understanding of autism.
We hope their story helps spread more awareness and acceptance of people with autism.
