Cordova High IB students hear inspiring words from successful alums
Taking full Diploma Programme courses in Cordova High School’s International Baccalaureate Programme is demanding and rigorous: multiple high-level courses, comprehensive projects, extensive writing and analysis, and more.
So it was reassuring for the dozens of current students when, just before Winter Break, they heard from former students - now attending elite colleges and universities like UCLA - that all the hard work is more than worth it.
During an on-campus luncheon hosted by the school in December students, teachers, and graduates sat at roundtables organized by the IB Learner Profile characteristics: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
And numerous former students offered these reflections: Those 10 learning characteristics - plus the global focus of the coursework, collaboration between teachers, and rich diversity of the Cordova High campus - prepared them for college more than they had imagined.
