Sutter Middle School is being rebuilt and among the new accomodations, a new library is one of the first things you see when you enter campus. The new Burnett Media Center was officially unveiled at Sutter Middle School on Feb. 6.
“Today the unveiling of the Burnett Media Center was dedicated to a family who has served in education for over 57 years in Folsom Cordova, so it was a real honor,” said Principal Keri Phillips.
Ward Burnett was a Board of Education trustee from 1918-30 for the former Granite School District. David Ward Burnett served the Folsom Cordova Unified School District 1943-63 as well as 1965-69. He also opened 11 schools while in his years serving for the District. Craig Burnett served FCUSD from 1975-96.
To this day the work the members of the Burnett family is still shown. They were important to the expansion of what is now a large district of more than 21,000 students. Members from the extended Burnett Family flew from as far as Alaska to come to the dedication ceremony.
