Mills students start coat drive: " Project Keep Them Warm"
Mills Middle School 8th graders MacKenzie Johnson and Madeline Leavitt started a coat drive at their school, "Project Keep Them Warm," for their fellow students in need of a coat.
Johnson came up with the idea after learning a classmate didn't have a coat to wear and reached out to Levitt about coordinating a drive together. The two approached their science teacher Justin Smith about their idea, and they all presented the idea to Principal Peter Maroon, who gave it the green light. Additional students Kijani Clark, Kya Clark and Emily Johnson have joined in to help.
Students who need a coat can speak with a school counselor about getting one. If you'd like to donate a new or gently used coat you can drop it off at the main office. The school is located at 10439 Coloma Rd. in Rancho Cordova. Coats will be accepted until 12/15!
