English Language Proficiency Assessments for California Field Tests beginning

We are pleased to announce that your school may participate in the state field test of the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California, the ELPAC, which will replace the current California English Language Development Test (CELDT). This is a great opportunity for our schools.

The purpose of the field test is to gather information about the design of the test and the performance of the test questions. This year’s field test is happening in specially-selected schools across California, and some English learners and English-proficient students in our schools will participate in this field test.

The test will be administered over a period of several days from Aug. 28 through Sept. 22. Because this is a field test, neither students, parents, nor teachers will receive individual student test scores or reports.

If you wish to exempt your child(ren) from participating in this opportunity, please submit to your school principal a written request specifying your child’s name, grade, and the name of the test.
