VIDEOS: Vista Del Lago seniors participate in GRADitude Walk
Story by Reijer den Dulk, FCUSD Communication Internship Program
Vista Del Lago High seniors participated in the first ever GRADitude walk on May 17, where they strolled the campuses of their old elementary and middle school one last time as students to inspire younger generations.
It was a day filled with nostalgic memories for the graduating seniors and full of hope for the younger students, who will one day be in caps and gowns of their own.
Seniors were bused to their old elementary schools and began the day with a parade in their caps and gowns and celebration at their former elementary schools. They then headed on the bus to Folsom Middle School for a grand parade to celebrate their achievements with students and staff.
Students at both the elementary schools and the middle school lined the campuses and hallways holding signs with decorated graduates names.
Graduating Senior Haley Cruz said the grad walk was an amazing experience for her.
" It was incredible being able to go back and visit the teachers who have helped me throughout my academic journey. They taught me how to love learning and for that I am forever grateful," she said. " It was also great to be able to see my two little sisters, Sophi and Luci. Being able to visit them and see that they are proud of me and all that I've accomplished over the years really made it an emotional day."
