Students share their positive experiences in FCUSD music programs
“One of my main memories of high school is with the orchestra. We were able to go to a field trip to Disneyland for three days and were able to go backstage to play Disney music with a Disney Conductor," said Kasia Vang, a Cordova High School student.
Lance Padilla, a Vista Del Lago High School student is a member of the Contemporary Music Ensemble. Padilla said, he picked up the violin in the fourth grade and sticking with that instrument through middle school and high school was one of the best decisions he has made. " I was able to meet a lot of new people and achieve a really great experience,” said Padilla
"There's tons of options in high school so I totally recommend that you keep on sticking with an instrument, if it makes you feel really good. When you do something you love to do everything becomes a lot easier, so if you love playing an instrument right now stick with it,” said Brenden Sick a member of Folsom High School's Jazz Band.
Each music program offers unique opportunities to engage students and develop their skills not only playing music, but in life. Music students have the opportunity to make new friends, while having diverse learning experiences in both middle school and high school.
