DT Martin becomes District's first Coordinator of Safe Schools
Folsom Cordova is pleased to announce Darrell T (DT) Martin as the Coordinator of Safe Schools.
Mr. Martin is a transformative educator with a vast career in law enforcement and education. A highly respected police officer with 27 years of experience in law enforcement in various roles that include being a patrol officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, and with a focus on youth safety, Mr. Martin became a high school teacher in 2017 with the Sacramento City Unified School District. There he taught in the High School Law Pathway Academy and served as an Intervention Specialist, leading others in the areas of instruction, curriculum, supervision, and student support while maintaining responsibility for the health, safety, discipline, and conduct of the students.
His approach to fostering safe and positive school climates is on “building relationships with staff, students, and the community” and is “most proud of the work done to support youth in being productive, responsible, and engaged global citizens.” As Coordinator of Safe Schools, Mr. Martin will work with the District and school site Administrators to ensure effective strategies are in place to provide a safe school environment for all students, staff, parents, and the community and will interact as a liaison between the District and law enforcement.
Mr. Martin earned his Bachelor of Arts from the Criminal Justice Management, Union Institute and University, and Career Technical Education Teaching Credential from the Sacramento County Office of Education.
