SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL MEMBERS!

Thank you everyone who volunteered for SSC Nominations. All Nominees had multiple votes and it was a close race.

Here are the five selected members:

Parents who have not been selected are still welcome to attend SSC Meetings!

The first SSC Meeting is scheduled for Thurs, September 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Rmm 106.

 

Patriot’s Pen Scholarship

This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great”.

The Patriot’s Pen is a youth sponsored essay competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Information and entry forms are in the office. All entries will be picked up in the office on October 31st.

Science Bowl: Every Monday from 3:45 to 4:30 PM in RM 309. First meeting today!

Anime Club is starting this Wednesday in RM 403. 6th graders can come during lunch after 11:30; 7th graders can attend anytime during lunch.

Dungeons and Dragons Club Orientation Meeting - Today in the library from 3:30-4:30 PM. Only students who have already signed up may attend.

Club LIVE: The first meeting will be held at 8:10 am on Tue, 9/17 in Mrs. Kamath’s RM 401

FMS Speech and Debate Tryouts are this week. You may only tryout if you’ve already signed up. See more information below:

Tryouts: Please report to the library after school at 3:45 on the day of your tryouts.

  • For students with LAST NAMES beginning with A-L: Tuesday, 9/17
  • For students with LAST NAMES beginning with M-Z: Wednesday, 9/18

Topics are: 

  • India should be part of the U.N. National Security Council
  • Data Mining of Personally Identifiable Information Does More Good Than Harm
  • U.S. Should Not Forgive College Loans
  • Celebrities Should Not Be Expected to be Role Models.

Homework Club is not available at this time. When there is an update on the status we will send out a communication to parents and students.

One winner will be pulled out after October 15.

VISION AND HEARING SCREENING

FOR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS/NEW TO CALIFORNIA:

  • WHO WILL BE SCREENED? All 8th grade students and those new to California.
  • WHEN? Sept. 24-25 during PE classes except zero period. The School Nurse will make arrangements with those students who have zero period.
  • WHAT TO BRING: Please remind your students to bring their glasses for the screening.
  • TO OPT-OUT: Please contact the Principal in writing before September 23 if you do not want your child’s hearing or vision screened.

The FMS library is open for school year!

Hours: 8:30 in the mornings for study hall and closes at 4:00 in the afternoon.

Lunch Passes: If you would like to visit the library at lunch times, please stop by the library to pick up a lunch pass! (You do not need a pass to go to the library before or after school).

To continue to serve our staff and students at FMS, we need volunteers to step up and fill a spot on these committees.

We need Event Leaders who can work with their Task Team to cover areas such as: Decorations, Food, Supplies, Booking Vendors, Collecting Donations, Event Marketing (not all events require this level of planning).

We cannot support these Annual Events without Community Support:
