UPCOMING EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER:

  • WEEK 2 - Jag-a-thon Fundraiser - DONATE TODAY! Check your email for information!
  • M 9/9 PTO Meeting TONIGHT @ 6:30 PM in PTO Lounge
  • T 9/10 Club Rush during all three lunches
  • F 9/27 Color Run for Funds - 1:00 to 2:05 PM (Early PM Rally Schedule)

Club Rush will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10th, during all three lunches.

Clubs will have a display booth stationed at a table in front of the Multi where students can get more information and sign up for the clubs they are interested in joining!

Here are some of the clubs offered at FMS this year!

  • Speech and Debate, CA Jr. Scholarship Federation
  • Science Bowl, STEM Expo, Math Club, History Day
  • Club Live, Yearbook, Theatre, Book Club
  • Robotics (NEW!), Dungeons & Dragons (NEW!)

Volunteers are needed during all three lunches: 

  • 6th grade: 11:07 to 11:42
  • 7th grade: 12:04 to 12:39
  • 8th grade: 1:01 to 1:36

Patriot’s Pen Scholarship

This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great”.

The Patriot’s Pen is a youth sponsored essay competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Information and entry forms are in the office.

All entries will be picked up in the office on October 31st.

Don't forget to Nominate you can pick up to 5 members. Deadline is Friday September 13th

VISION AND HEARING SCREENING

FOR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS/NEW TO CALIFORNIA:

  • WHO WILL BE SCREENED? All 8th grade students and those new to California.
  • WHEN? Sept. 24-25 during PE classes except zero period. The School Nurse will make arrangements with those students who have zero period.
  • WHAT TO BRING: Please remind your students to bring their glasses for the screening.
  • TO OPT-OUT: Please contact the Principal in writing before September 23 if you do not want your child’s hearing or vision screened.
  • If you have any questions about the hearing and vision screening, please email the school nurse (Amanda Turkbergen): aturkbergen@fcusd.org
 

The Homework Club is not available at this time. When there is an update on the status we will send out a communication to parents and students.

The FMS library is open for school year!

Hours: 8:30 in the mornings for study hall and closes at 4:00 in the afternoon.

Lunch Passes: If you would like to visit the library at lunch times, please stop by the library to pick up a lunch pass! (You do not need a pass to go to the library before or after school).

 

JAG-A-THON: WEEK 2 UPDATE!

🎯 SCHOOL GOAL = $35,000 // FAMILY GOAL = $50

If just 5 people donated $10 each, each family would reach their goal!

  • 6th: Mrs. Williams -17% and in the lead again!
  • 7th: Milobar - 12%
  • 8th: Maldonado - 11%

To continue to serve our staff and students at FMS, we need volunteers to step up and fill a spot on these committees.

We need Event Leaders who can work with their Task Team to cover areas such as: Decorations, Food, Supplies, Booking Vendors, Collecting Donations, Event Marketing (not all events require this level of planning).

We cannot support these Annual Events without Community Support:

Fall Dance - All Grades (Oct 25) - SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING

Staff Appreciation Week (May) - Looking for 6/7/8 Grade Team Leads

Treasurer Mentee: To possibly fill Treasurer role in 2020-21 School Year

Programs Coordinator: To vet/coordinate new programs for FMS.

Fundraising Coordinator: To outreach to donors for gift cards, donations.

Corresponding Secretary: Sends thank you notes to donors and sponsors.
