What happens when elementary school students can wonder about the universe or demonstrate physics? The STEM lab at Theodore Judah proves that even the youngest children can learn the most complex sciences when given the chance.
Theodore Judah students have access to an amazing facility where they can learn about STEM and participate in engaging experiments; they even have their own 3D printer! In this lab, students explore different parts of science and technology, and the annual STEM Fair shows them related careers. During the fair, students can learn about various careers and listen to professionals from over 30 vendors including Kaiser, Micron, SMUD, the Folsom Zoo, the Folsom Police Department, and many more. As 5th grade science teacher Janice Silva puts it, "It motivates them to understand science in the real world."
The school's STEM Fair is led by the school's principal, Canen Peterson, who takes pride in the success the fair brings in developing deeper understanding about what they learn in class. "Having knowledge about the 'ins and outs' of science is something we can give them that will last them [students] a lifetime."
