Canen Peterson, named Principal of Mangini Ranch Elementary
Folsom Cordova is pleased to announce Canen Peterson as the Principal for Mangini Ranch Elementary School. A familiar face, Canen Peterson has been in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District since 2000. He began his career as a teacher at Gold Ridge Elementary and later became the principal for Natoma Station Elementary School, Theodore Judah Elementary and White Rock Elementary where he currently serves. His role as an educational leader has given him multiple opportunities to create innovative learning environments for diverse student populations while promoting academic excellence for all learners.
His expertise in Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Professional Learning Communities (PLC) has equipped Peterson with a skill set for forming strong relationships on campus with staff and creating a positive school culture for students. Peterson’s deep roots in the community have opened doors for community collaboration and partnerships and he has worked with city and business leaders to enhance the learning experience for his students. When asked about his thoughts on leading the new school, he remarked that he is “honored to create a shared vision of Mangini Ranch” noting its state-of-the-art design that will allow for “inspiring learning experiences for students in Folsom’s newest community.” A longtime resident, Peterson has called Folsom his home since 1999 and is married to Aimee Peterson who teaches Transitional Kindergarten at Blanche Sprentz Elementary.
