Kimberly Walker named Principal for District's virtual academy
Veteran educator Kim Walker has been named the principal for the new Folsom Cordova virtual academy school that will open next school year, 2021-22, offering 100% remote learning for grades K-12. Mrs. Walker has over 20 years of combined experience in education, both in the classroom and as an administrator. Her expertise and experience include serving as the principal for the California Virtual Academies, an online educational institution that provides instruction for students grades K-8 throughout the state.
With strong skills, leading large teams of certificated staff, Walker has strong technical knowledge to organize instructional models and staff supports that are unique to the virtual space. “Inspiring and building a strong school community in a digital environment” is one of Walker’s focuses as she will build FCUSD’s newest school. Walker’s training in structures and strategies for English language learners and cross-cultural language and academic development, position her as a well-rounded educational leader able to meet the needs of all learners.
Walker has served educational institutions throughout the state for many years and currently resides in Folsom where her children attend FCUSD schools.
