Internet Safety Forum gives tips on keeping kids safe from online dangers
Protect Your Child from Internet Dangers Parent Forum was held on Nov. 14 at Folsom Middle.
The forum was hosted by both Folsom and Sutter Middle schools' administration for all parents of middle and elementary school students in Folsom.
The expert panel include the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force that investigates crimes against minors over the internet, school resource officers from Folsom Police Department, and Marriage & Family Therapist Kelly Richardson.
Topics ranged from monitoring your child's cell phones, to knowing what social media platforms they are on, crimes committed locally against minors over the internet via their cell phones on popular apps, video game consoles they use to communicate with and victimize children, limiting time on social media, cyber bullying, how to have difficult discussions with your child and avoid power struggles, and the legal ramifications for children who inappropriately use the internet.
