Attendance Matters!

Please call or email the front office daily before 9am if your child will not be able to attend school due to illness, appointments or will be arriving late. To report an absence, call (916) 294-9130 ext.290115.

We will need the following information:

  • Student's first and last name
  • Teacher's name
  • Date of absence
  • Reason for absence (illness, medical appointment, funeral, out of town, etc)
  • Your name and relationship to the student

If a student is absent due to illness, they must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

If your child will be late for school due to an early morning appointment, please let us know before 9am to avoid the automatic attendance line phone call or a phone call from us. Remember to get a note to excuse this late arrival.

If you have an appointment for your child with the doctor, please get a note to excuse the absence(s). Make sure to submit the note to the office as soon as possible, as late submissions cannot be guaranteed and also depend on the end of attendance reporting periods.

Each student is allowed 10 days of parent-verified absence due to medical reasons (IPV; Ill-Parent Verified). Once a student reaches 10 days of IPV absences, a doctor's note will be required to clear all medically related absences thereafter. For medical appointments, illness, or surgery, please request a note from your child's doctor listing the exact date(s) of the medically-related absence(s).

Vacations are not excused absences. Absences due to reasons other than illness, medical appointment, religious holiday, funeral, or family emergency approved by the principal are considered unexcused and will generate truancy letters.
