Sutter Middle presents: Protecting your children from Internet dangers
Families, you are invited to an evening of learning and parenting tools. With the support of the Sacramento District Attorney's Office and District Child Welfare Department, Sutter Middle is offering a workshop for families about the dangers of the Internet and how to protect children growing up in the digital era.
As parents, it is difficult to keep up with the new trends and advancements in technology. Social media and digital communication is a clear example of how something can be both effective and potentially harmful. At the workshop, families learn:
- Tools to keep their kids safe on their mobile devices using the iSmart program
- The latest trends in cyber-crimes directed toward children
- How to protect their children from cyber bullying and sexting
- Skills to parent teens in the age of the internet
- How to teach social media boundaries to their children
- How to help children after they have made poor cyber choices
- How to have difficult discussions with their children and avoid power struggles
- The legal ramifications for children who inappropriately use the internet
The event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Sutter Middle School.
