Rancho Cordova, Calif. – For most seniors, college means new experiences, new friends, and new places. But for student athletes, it is much more than that. It is playing the game they love in hopes of making a career out of it.
This year, Folsom High School, Vista del Lago High School, and Cordova High School have athletes being recruited for football, soccer, and track and field.
Alex Martinez (CHS) was recruited by Sacramento State for soccer.
“I am very excited to be a Hornet. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to play at a Division 1 college soccer program right here in my own hometown in front of all my friends and family,” Martinez said.
Xavier Juarez (CHS) is starting his freshman year of college playing soccer at UC Merced.
Juarez said, “[I am] excited for a new chapter in my life, pushing myself educationally and playing against the best on the field. With hard work and dedication, I believe I can achieve my goals.”
Alongside Martinez and Juarez is Lanne Akomolafe, (FHS) who will be playing football at Southern Oregon University next year.
These are just some FCUSD athletes that will be playing in the National College Athletic Association next year.
Each one of these athletes has worked extremely hard the past four years. Congratulations to every one of them!
