Dear Prospect Families,
I hope this welcome back letter finds you all healthy. This is a very difficult time for all of us but rest assured, we are in it together. While we are starting the year off with distance learning, we have had time to improve our practices and provide you with the help you need to be successful, and to ultimately make review and return to your comprehensive sites.
During this time, we will be issuing newer Chromebooks to all students. If you checked one out last Spring, please bring the Chromebook and the charger to exchange. You can check one out from the main campus from 9 a.m.-2:00 p.m. We will be using Google Classroom as our online platforms this Fall. To stay informed, please check in to Google Classroom daily. In addition, check the school and district websites several times a week. This is critical, as we will be communicating with you in these places. It is also important that you update your information on InfoSnap so we can keep you informed. We are moving from using Zoom to Microsoft Teams. While they are similar, there will be new things to learn. We will be grading work and issuing grades. We have asked the board to extend the reduction of required credits to graduate to the class of 2021 but are waiting for their decision. We also need to hear from you. If you need WiFi access, if you need a Chromebook, if you need packets of work, if you need work permits, transcripts, etc. We are here to support you no matter what!
Also keep in mind that our Mental Health Specialists, Ms. Lee and Ms. Knight are available should you need their support. Stay tuned for an electronic handbook and frequent updates! The transition back to in-person learning will include students having two days of in person learning and three days of distance learning. In the meantime, food will be distributed on our campus daily (11:50-1:00 p.m.) and it is free to all students. Please take advantage of this! Our office will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. beginning on the first day of school.
The first day of school is August 12th and we will be ready for our new normal. Please know that the staff misses you. We cannot wait to be back on campus with you all. Hang in there, stay well, and remember that when nothing is certain, anything is possible. We will thrive!
Respectfully,
Michelle Flowers
