We had two graduates this week!
Following recent public health updates, allowing for student desks to be spaced 3 feet apart, and at the direction of the Board of Trustees, we are preparing to combine the A & B student groups so that all students who are attending “in person” are on campus Tuesdays through Fridays beginning on April 13th.
We need your help to ensure balanced classrooms. Please complete the following short questionnaire by end of the school day, Friday, March 26th.
If you have more than one child at our school, please complete the survey for each child. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out directly to your school site. Thank you.

We are excited to inform you that on Wednesday, March 17, we have been given the green light to return to campus. We will be following the attached hybrid schedules as of Wednesday morning with the AA Cohort. The BB Cohort will attend school on Thursday and Friday. Those who chose to remain in distance learning will continue to do so but will follow the hybrid schedule as well. These students must communicate with their teachers daily. Please know that we have taken great care in preparing for a safe return and that staff is looking forward to seeing our students. We have all really missed them.
Our safety protocols are on our websites as are our schedules. Our first priority is helping our students, families, and staff adjust successfully to our new normal. We are in this together.
I have attached Hybrid schedules for Kinney and Prospect and our family agreement. This must come with your student on their first day of in-person class. Copies are also available in the office. Students will also be expected to bring their Chromebooks, fully charged to campus. They also will be expected to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times. Do not hesitate to call or e-mail us with any questions.

It is that time of year again when we want to hear from your students. To help us do this, we will be administering online, a Healthy Kids Survey. This will occur between February 8-28th. If you choose not to have your student participate, please print the form on our websites labeled “Healthy Kids Survey Parent form.” It then needs to be dropped off or sent to us electronically (email@example.com) If we do not have the completed form, we assume your student can and will complete the survey. This information is critical, especially during unprecedented times, in determining what we can do to improve. Feel free to contact the school with questions 916-294-9060.

As the many challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic continue to shift and evolve, we are developing plans to celebrate the graduating class of 2021. We know that this class of students has missed many important activities and experiences, and we want to make their celebration memorable.
In order to ensure that this celebration reflects student priorities, we are surveying students to better understand their preferences. The survey questions are intentionally general and designed to establish priorities, not to present formats. The survey will be pushed out via Teams. Once the survey is completed, we will share the results with both students and parents and then follow up with options and possible formats, keeping in mind that we will have to remain flexible and within the safety guidelines set by the Sacramento County Office of Public Health.

Dear Kinney Families,
I hope this welcome back letter finds you all healthy. This is a very difficult time for all of us but rest assured we are in it together. While we are starting the year off with distance learning, we have had time to improve our practices and provide you with the help you need to be successful, and to ultimately, graduate. We had 55 graduates last year and almost all of them participated in our drive thru celebration.
During this time, we will be issuing newer Chromebooks to all students. If you checked one out last Spring, please bring the Chromebook and the charger to exchange. You can pick one up from the office between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. We will be using Google Classroom as our online platforms this Fall. To stay informed, please check into Google Classroom daily. We are no longer using Zoom but will move to Microsoft Teams. While it is similar, there will be some things to learn. In addition, you should be checking the school and district websites several times a week. This is critical, as we will be communicating with you in these places. It is also critical that you have updated your contact information on InfoSnap so we can communicate with you regularly. We will be grading work and issuing grades. We have asked the board to extend the reduction of required credits to graduate to the class of 2021 but are waiting for their decision. We also need to hear from you. If you need WiFi access, if you need a Chromebook, if you need packets of work, if you need work permits, transcripts, etc. We are here to support you no matter what!
Also keep in mind that our Mental Health Specialists, Ms. Lee and Ms. Knight are available should you need their support. Stay tuned for an electronic handbook and frequent updates! The transition back to in-person learning will include students having two days of in person learning and three days of distance learning. In the meantime, food will be distributed on our campus daily (11:50-1:00 p.m.) Food is free to all students. Please take advantage of this! Our office will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. beginning on the first day of school.
The first day of school is August 12th and we will be ready for our new normal. Please know that the staff misses you. We cannot wait to be back on campus with you all. Hang in there, stay well, and remember that when nothing is certain, anything is possible. We will thrive!
Wishing you all a fantastic school year! Thank you for making this such a special place!
