Students who reach a certain number of absences or tardies are considered truant. California Ed Code requires us to notify parents when their child is truant. This is done through truancy letters.
Any pupil who has been absent from school without a valid excuse for more than three days, or is tardy in excess of 30 minutes on three occassions during a school year, will receive the 1st truancy letter.After the 8th day with a truant event the 2nd letter shall be mailed.After the 13th day with a truant event, a School Attendance Review Team will be convened to hold a SART meeting requiring parent/guardian attendance. Excessive truancies may lead to involvement of law enforcement, revocation of Worker’s Permit, and suspension of driver’s license.
