    Dear Kinney Families,

I hope this welcome back letter finds you all healthy and settling into our new normal. COVID has changed how we do many things but we were especially hit hard in our learning communities. Despite the challenges, we witnessed students and staff doing more than just surviving, we saw them thriving. We saw the community come together to offer comfort and support while our first responders and essential workers continued to show themselves to be true heroes. We had 40 graduates last year and almost all of them participated in our drive thru celebration. This is further proof of our students’ resiliency!

Most students returned their Chromebooks, but if you have not done so please bring it with you on the first day of school which is August 11th, at 9:00 a.m. Please plan on arriving early and where you report first period will be posted around school. That teacher will then issue you your schedule. Please continue to check our school website regularly and if you have any questions, the office is open Monday-Friday 8:30-3:45 p.m. It is also critical that you have updated your contact information so we can communicate with you regularly. If anything has changed or you are new to campus, please call us at 916-294-9060.

Going back to a regular school day will be an adjustment for us all but we have many things in place to help your student be successful. Keep in mind that our Mental Health Specialists, Ms. Lee and Ms. Yamada are available should you need their support. We also look forward to bringing back many of our clubs and our basketball team. Most of the faces will be the same however we do have a new campus monitor, Zephyr Scott. We welcome her to our team. We also welcome our new Psychologist, Nathan Harris. Ms. Pachonas will be teaching our Leadership class this year, along with her Science classes.

We cannot wait to be back on campus with you all. Hang in there, stay well, and remember that when nothing is certain, anything is possible. We will thrive!

Wishing you all a fantastic school year! Thank you for making this such a special place!

    Respectfully,

    Michelle Flowers
