FCUSD offers a variety of elementary education programs: Academy for Advanced Learning, Riverview STEM Academy, Spanish Language Magnet Program, Montessori Program, and Transitional Kindergarten. Gold Ridge will be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser January 22 - 26. During the week, students will learn how regular exercise, a healthy diet, and knowledge of risk factors can contribute to a long, healthy life. Physically active kids have better attendance, focus, behavior and academic performance. In 2015, Gold Ridge raised $7,885 for the American Heart Association. The second general meeting of the year will be held on Monday, January 29th at 7:00 PM in the Gold Ridge library. All Gold Ridge parents are invited to attend. Academic Talent Search offers 4th - 9th graders exciting summer courses at Sacramento State that you pick for yourself! Choose from classes like All the World's Stage, Algebra 1, LEGO Robotics, Neuropsychology, Video Game Development, and many others. Classes are held on the university campus. To join the fun and cool summer classes at Sac State's Academic Talent Search, you must first take a qualifying exam. Empire Oaks is administering an ATS qualifying exam on Monday, February 5th at 3:00 PM in the library. Empire Oaks is located at 1830 Bonhill Drive in Folsom. The Gold Ridge Science Fair will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. The registration deadline was Thursday, December 7, 2017. LATE REGISTRATION FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Gold Ridge Chorus Club is forming now. If you are a 2nd-5th grade student and enjoy singing, this is the club for you. The first meeting will be Monday, January 22nd. Attention creative writers! Gold Ridge 2nd - 5th grade students are invited to participate in the B Street Theatre Playwriting Contest. Winning plays will be performed by professional actors across the county as part of the Fantasy Festival. Join Mrs. Fowler for a mini playwriting club to help you get started. The PTA is working hard to make the 2017-2018 school year a success. This year, the PTA is utilizing a new tool, called "MySchoolAnywhere", to securely manage the group, create a school directory, communicate with parents, and more. Once you join the MySchoolAnywhere PTA portal, you will be able to purchase PTA memberships, make a donation, and stay up to date with all the events the PTA has planned for our school this year. Gold Ridge Elementary has established procedures to ensure student safety and an orderly transition during arrival and dismissal. There are many benefits associated with traveling to and from school by bike, scooter, or foot - alleviates traffic congestion, encourages independence and builds confidence, and is good for the environment and your physical/mental well-being. If your child would like to ride a bicycle or scooter to school please complete a Bicycle/Scooter Permission Form and submit it to the school office. Permission slips are available in the office or you can click on the link to download and print the form at home.
Daily, on-time attendance is crucial for your student's success. If, however, your student will be absent from school due to illness or another reason, please notify the office as soon as possible. Although we strongly recommend taking vacations during school holidays, Independent Study Agreements are available for planned absences of at least 5 consecutive school days. You will also be able to monitor your student's account balance and purchase history and opt to receive low-balance email alerts. Click on the link for complete details. Even with an EZSchoolPay.com account, you can still pay for lunch with cash or check. Lunch money needs to be turned in directly to the office at the start of the day, before classes begin.
