Special Needs Student Transportation
Our special needs children will require placement by our Special Education Department. If your child has not had an IEP with special transportation required, please talk to your child's teacher.
DISPATCHING
We receive our assignments from the Special Education Department. Once we receive the written request to transport the children, we have ten (5) working days to put a child on a route.
Once the child is assigned to a route, you will be called to give you the estimated times for pick up and drop off.
Students must be at the stop 5 minutes before their pick-up time. The person receiving an attended student must be ready to receive the student 15 minutes before the estimated drop off time.

In order to ensure the safe transportation of your special-needs child, the following procedures have been adopted:
1. Have your child ready five (5) minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. The driver will stop at the designated stop. If the child is not ready to be transported, the driver will continue on the route. It is your responsibility to watch for the bus.
2. If your child can not be left alone in the afternoon, please be home and ready to receive your child at school dismissal time. Because of absenteeism, the drop off time will occasionally vary. For this reason, you must be ready to receive your child 15 minutes before the scheduled drop off time. If no one is home, the student will be returned to school and it will be your responsibility to transport from there. We will not call you to tell you the bus has arrived.
3. Changes may take up to five (5) working days to implement.
4. Should the child be attended, an adult must meet your child; we will not be able to let the child off the bus without the adult being present at the bus door.
5. Please be outside at the time the child is to be dropped off as the bus runs on a tight schedule.

7. We cannot change pick-up or drop off locations. You need to decide on only one location for pick up and one location for drop off.
8. Once the buses leave, we will not send them back for the child. Please have your child ready 5 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time.
9. If your child is not going to ride the bus, please call the transportation office at (916) 294-9100 ext. 160130. If your child is a no show for three days in a row without a phone call, the bus will not come to your stop until you call the office.
10. We cannot transport any medication on the bus.
