Welcome to the FCUSD's Student Care Program home page. We serve the following sites:

MISSION: Our mission is to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. The goal of the FCUSD Extended Day Care Programs is to offer high-quality before- and after-school care that is accessible, convenient, safe, and affordable for families.

Located on 15 elementary school campuses throughout Folsom and Rancho Cordova, our programs are designed to meet the educational, cultural, and social needs of the diverse communities we serve. Services are provided in a professional, courteous, and ethical manner within a secure environment supervised by well-trained, caring adults.

We strive to foster each student’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth by introducing new experiences, building upon existing skills, and creating meaningful opportunities for growth. Through engaging activities and positive interactions, students are encouraged to develop meaningful relationships with their peers and the caring adults who support them.

PROGRAM ELEMENTS: All Student Care programs include three key components:

1. Academic Support – Activities and curriculum designed to complement and reinforce the school’s academic program.

2. Academic Enrichment – Engaging, hands-on learning experiences, including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and exploration.

3. Recreation – Opportunities for students to participate in physical activity, cooperative games, and other recreational experiences through the SPARK curriculum and additional resources.

Together, these components provide students with a well-rounded program that supports academic success, promotes personal growth, and encourages active, engaged learning.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION PROCEDURES: Admission to the district's Student Care Program is based upon space and availability. Students will be invited to join the Student Care Program as spaces become available. See below to join our waitlist:

Step 1: Join the Waitlist - Add your child’s name to the waitlist through the After-School Enrollment Page.

Step 2: Wait for Availability - The Student Care Office will contact you when a space becomes available at your child’s school of attendance. At that time, you will be asked to provide the following:

• Proof of household income, if requesting a reduced rate. To qualify, total household income must be less than $5,900 per month before taxes.

• A valid payment method. We accept Visa and Mastercard.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• Student Care Office Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm:

  • The office is closed on Fridays.

  • Office hours may vary during school breaks. Please call ahead to confirm availability.

• Short-term care is not available. We cannot provide care for periods of only 2–4 weeks.

• All Student Care sites in Folsom and Rancho Cordova currently have waitlists:

  • Waitlists can develop quickly - many of our sites are impacted and may have significant wait times.

  • Joining a waitlist does not guarantee placement in the Student Care Program. 

  • We will contact you only if a space becomes available.

• Students who are offered a space and complete the registration process by the end of July will be eligible to begin the program on the first day of school.

• Care is not offered during holidays or school breaks, with the exception of our summer program. Additional information about the summer program will be shared at a later date.

STUDENT SIGN-IN & PICK-UP PROCEDURES: Student Care staff will check students into the program each day after school. For safety and accountability, students are expected to check in to Student Care directly after school and should not leave campus or go to another location before checking in with Student Care staff.

The Student Care Program closes promptly at 6:00 p.m. Students must be picked up and signed out by an adult who is at least 16 years old and is listed on the student’s enrollment form as an authorized pick-up person.

For the safety of all students, anyone who is unfamiliar to Student Care staff will be required to present a valid photo ID before a student can be released.

LATE PICK-UP: If a student has not been picked up by 6:00 p.m., Student Care staff will attempt to contact the parent/guardian and individuals listed on the student’s emergency contact form. If we are unable to reach an authorized contact, law enforcement may be contacted to ensure the student’s safety.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and consistent check-in and pick-up process for all students.

ILLNESSES: If your child appears sick or complains of sickness while participating in the program, the staff will notify the parent/guardian immediately. Staff will ask you to pick up your child from the program to prevent the risk of infection. The program is not equipped to care for sick children.  

MEDICAL & EMERGENCY INFORMATION: The emergency contact information you have completed is extremely important. Please be sure to notify the staff of any changes in your child's medical needs, as well as any changes that might occur to your home and work numbers, and the emergency contact numbers you have supplied.  

INJURIES: If your child is injured, the program staff will take whatever steps may be necessary to ensure that your child receives emergency medical care. This can include, but is not limited to, administering emergency first aid or CPR, attempting to contact you or your emergency contacts, calling an ambulance or paramedic, calling your family doctor, and/or accompanying the child to an emergency hospital.  

BEHAVIOR & STUDENT EXPECTATIONS: Please see the Parents' Rights and Responsibilities and the Student Code of Conduct for important information regarding student expectations and behavior.

If a behavior concern occurs during the program, the Site Lead may contact the parent/guardian on file, depending on the nature and severity of the incident. Our goal is to work collaboratively with families to address concerns, support positive behavior, and maintain a safe, respectful environment for all students.

COMMUNICATION: We support and encourage open communication. If, at any time, you have questions or concerns, please make an appointment to talk with the Student Care Site Lead and /or the Expanded Learning Supervisor.

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) OVERVIEW & SURVEY RESULTS: In an effort to ensure FCUSD is providing students and families of the afterschool program with quality service, we have asked our families for some feedback. This process is centered around the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning. During this process, we received feedback about how the afterschool program supports the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning Programs to assist in improving our programs.  Please review the analysis of the results here.
