Upcoming CAC Events

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s Special Education Department and SELPA invite families, students, and staff to attend our Community Advisory Committee Fair on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 5:30–7:00 p.m.

The Self-Determination: Post-Secondary Transition Planning Fair is a free community event designed to support post-secondary planning for students with disabilities. The fair will feature vendor tables, presentations, and activities for students. Families will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of organizations providing valuable information and resources, including colleges, Alta California Regional Center, independent living programs, and other nonprofit organizations.

In addition, Jazmine Williams, author and illustrator, will lead children’s activities and host a book giveaway. Two parent sessions focused on self-determination will be offered while children participate in activities with Ms. Williams.

RSVP is not required; however, please complete the survey by January 9, 2026, to help us prepare accordingly: RSVP survey

The event will be held in the boardroom at the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Education Services Center, located at 1965 Birkmont Drive, Rancho Cordova.

We look forward to seeing you there.

What is CAC?

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District Special Education Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a Board of Education, approved committee.  The CAC is made up of parents, community members and District staff concerned with the needs of children with disabilities.

The goal of the CAC is to empower and assist parents of students with special needs to become effective team members in their child’s education.  The CAC advises and works collaboratively with the FCUSD on special education policies, procedures, programs, and parent education in the Special Education Local Area (SELPA) as mandated by the California Education Code.

Why you should attend a CAC Meeting?

  • To stay informed on important special education issues
  • To receive education, training, and information
  • To have a gathering place to build relationships with other parents and with Student Support Services staff and administration
  • To have your voice heard
  • To help us create community awareness of children with special needs
