Attendance Support

WELCOME!

Folsom Cordova USD recognizes the link between positive attendance and lifelong success, and we believe missed days are missed opportunities. The US Department of Education reports that for every missed day of school, it takes a student two days to catch up since they must make up missed learning and catch up with new learning at the same time. If your family is experiencing challenges with positive attendance, we are here to help. Together, we can help our students stay on track!

Why is school attendance so important?

~Children who miss too many days in kindergarten and first grade can struggle academically in later years and often have trouble mastering reading by the end of third grade.

~By middle and high school, absenteeism is a leading warning sign that a student will drop out of high school.

~Nearly 67% of course failures are attributed to low attendance.

~Students are considered chronically absent even if they only miss a day or two every few weeks.

~Attendance is a top indicator of being on track for graduation and for college and career readiness.

~Absences can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.

Attendance is the No. 1 predictor of dropout and graduation rates.
La asistencia es el principal factor predictivo de las tasas de desercion escolar y graduacion.
