Work-Based Learning Opportunities in FCUSD
CTE Summer Preceptorship & Creative Career Connections (CCC)
FCUSD Career Technical Education (CTE) offers summer programs that connect high school students with real-world career experiences, internships, and short courses led by industry professionals and post-secondary partners.

Student Opportunities
CTE Summer Preceptorship Program
Hands-on, career-focused internships with local business and community partners. Students may choose:
- 4-week program: June 3 – June 30, 2026
- 3-week program: June 3 – June 23, 2026
Internship placements vary by industry and site. Some interviews may be required.
Creative Career Connections (CCC) Program
CCC offers two-week courses in a variety of CTE pathways at different times throughout June. Students explore skills and careers in a focused, hands-on setting.
Sample Course
Photography @ Vista del Lago – Learn technical and creative skills in digital photography using professional equipment and workflows.
SSVMS Medical Program
Offered in partnership with the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society (SSVMS), this program introduces students to healthcare careers.
In-Person Programs (2026)
- Session I: June 8 – June 26, 2026
This session is part of the FCUSD summer program. - Session II: July 6 – July 24, 2026
This session is outside of the FCUSD summer program.
Virtual Program
- Monday–Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- June 15 – 25, 2026
- Open to incoming juniors and seniors only.
Applications due: March 1 | Acceptance notices: March 23
Applications & Required Documents
How to Apply
- Applications open: February 2 @ 8:30 a.m.
- Applications close: March 6 @ 5:00 p.m.
- Student placements announced: April 1
Some internship placements may require a brief interview.
Forms to Complete
All students accepted into a summer program must complete the following:
- Internship Agreement Form
- FCUSD Permission to Video/Photograph
- FCUSD Permission for Student Participation
- FCUSD Permission to Drive for Students
If accepted into the program, all required forms are due by May 2, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.
Community Business Partners
Partner with FCUSD Students
Local businesses and organizations play a critical role in providing high-quality, career-aligned experiences for our students.
- Business Information Letter
- Sample Internship Plan (Dokken Engineering)
- Business Interest Form – Due by March 14
- Business Fingerprinting/DOJ Form
Summer 2026 participants must have all forms completed by May 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Help with the SSVMS Application
Mrs. Maxey-Parler, Patient Care instructor at Folsom HS, will offer two help sessions for any FCUSD student completing the SSVMS application:
- Monday, February 9, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Monday, February 23, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Students can participate in person at Folsom HS or join via a Teams online meeting.
