Students from three Career Technical Student Organizations participated in National Conferences this summer!  We are so proud of their accomplishments and participation in National Level competitions.

National Restaurant Show

Culinary Students from Cordova and Kinney High Schools visited the National Restaurant Show in Chicago, IL.  Great opportunity for the students to learn about the industry and meet professionals


Students from Cordova and Kinney High Schools participated in the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Riverside, CA. One student qualified to compete at the National Conference in the Food Innovations event and two other students will be attending the conference as Regional Officers.  Congratulations to the students and teachers!


CTE students received Gold Awards at the SkillsUSA CA State Conference in Ontario, CA and qualified to participate at the National Conference.!

A total of 45 students and 5 CTE Teachers participated in the State Leadership Conference and had a great time!

Cordova and Folsom High Schools participated in the 2022 CREATE Mentoring Program and awards ceremony at CSUS. Students received Leadership Awards, Scholarships and Folsom High School won the Best Video.  Here is a presentation with images from the event.

STUDENTS FROM CORDOVA HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPATE IN 2022 EL DORADO FORESTRY CHALLENGE

 Grizzly Flats, CA — Four students from Cordova High School participated recently in the 2022 El Dorado Forestry Challenge, one group of a total of 112 high school students from 16 schools from the foothill and central valley regions of California. The event was October 26 to 29 at Leoni Meadows Camp, in Grizzly Flats, California.

Vista del Lago High School Computer Science Student Earns Perfect Score!

We are proud to announce that Naysa, a CTE student and a 2022 CTE Summer Preceptorship Program student, earned a perfect score on the AP Computer Science A examination. She was notified that she not only received the top score of 5, but was one of 369 students from around the world to earn every point possible on this challenging, college-level examination. This represents 0.47% of ALL students that completed the exam.

CHS Engineering Academy Students Visit Local Advanced Manufacturing Businesses

The CTE students in Mrs. Caplan's Product Innovation & Design Pathway visited Advanced Manufacturing Businesses in Rancho Cordova.  Here is a  link to the video produced with CMTA and SVMA.


Cordova High School Agriculture Academy and Soil Born Farms

A formal partnership between FCUSD and Soil Born Farms was established with a focus on four goals. These include experiential education opportunities, connecting students to fresh, healthy foods, training teachers, and the use of Soil Born Farms as a living laboratory.The Agriculture Academy students in grades 9-12 participated in a Farm Lab, soil testing, learning about composting and vermicomposing, seasonal flowers and working in the greenhouse.

AG Day

Cordova High School AG Academy students participated in the 2022 Agriculture Day at the Capitol. The 35 students assisted in making over 3,000 bouquets for legislators along with Elk Grove, Delta, Woodland, Galt, and Woodland Christian High Schools! It was amazing to see them work as a team to accomplish their goals!

HP Code Wars
 

On Saturday, March 5th, five teams of students from Folsom High School joined  thirty other teams to compete in HP Codewars. The students spent three hours solving as many coding problems as they could, using only one computer per team. FHS had two teams that won awards: 3rd Place - Novice Category and 3rd Place - Advanced Category.

APCSP

Congratulations to Vista del Lago High School for being recognized for female diversity in Computer Science!  The school was awarded for expanding young women's access to AP Computer Science Principles.

The CTE instructor, Doug Lewin,is dedicated to the success of the two-course CTE AP Computer Science pathway. The program includes AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A.

FFA Speaking Contest

Cordova High School Agriculture Academy students participated in the FFA Speaking Contest. There were 35 contestants in the Impromptu Speaking Contest and a CHS student earned a 6th Place Award!

Cordova High School & Mills Middle School Collaboration

The high school Engineering students and STEM middle school students collaborated on spooky Halloween projects.  The middle school students visited the Haunted House to experience all the amazing projects! A big thank you to Mrs. Caplan (CHS) and Mrs. Bird (MMS) for creating this STEAM, hands-on and project-based learning opportunity for students!

2021 California Capital Airshow 

Female STEM students from Cordova High School's Engineering Academy participated in the Ask Me Anything Conference & Mentor Luncheon for 200 young women. The conference featured remarkable speakers and newsworthy role models from North America’s top aviation and aerospace fields.

Folsom High School's Product Innovation & Design CTE Pathway Program is featured in the North Far North Regional Consortium newsletter.


Congratulations to the Cordova High Engineering Academy, who were awarded first place in the virtual CREATE (Construction-Re-Development-Engineering-Mentoring-
Architecutre-Trades-Education) Program sponsored by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX). The team received a $2,500 prize, in addition to a $1,000 donation to the team’s non-profit of choice, the Sacramento Children’s Museum.
