3-D Printing PPE Masks
3-D Printing of PPE Masks for Medical Professionals
The COVID-19 pandemic and health crisis has led to a shortage of personal protective equipment and masks for health professionals. Through our partnerships with the community, and health care professionals, we found out that 3D mask printing was something the medical community could use. Superintendent, Dr. Sarah Koligian immediately approved the idea, and CTE and STEM teachers from ten elementary, middle and high schools began working with Mercy Medical Group, specifically Dr. Jill Walsh, M.D. and Dr. Megan Babb, D.O. to establish the mask design guidelines and to distribute the masks to medical professionals.
The program's success is due to the hard work and dedication by the CTE and elementary teachers printing the masks and the support of site administrators from the following schools:
- Elementary Schools: Cordova Gardens, Riverview STEM and Russell Ranch
- Middle Schools: Mills and W. E. Mitchell
- High Schools: Cordova, Folsom, Folsom Lake, Kinney and Vista del Lago
