    Walnutwood High School Enrichment Opportunities  2017 - 2018

    Walnutwood High School is happy to offer our students increased enrichment opportunities that feature hands-on and small group learning, as well as on-line learning.  Additionally, there is a list of all courses offered by Apex, our on-line curriculum provider.     Drawing/Painting

    Students will develop an understanding of the basic elements of art and principles of design by examining  important works of art and experimenting with various techniques of drawing and painting, form a base for making informed aesthetic judgments and acquire knowledge of the historical and cultural development in the visual arts.

    Biology

    WHS kicks up the science program with a UC approved Biology class that includes 5 labs for each semester!  

    Come and learn how to extract DNA, use microscopes to look at cells, dissect an earthworm, and more!

    Chemistry

    During chemistry labs we will explore density, use and understand the periodic table, mix ionic solutions and look for a precipitate, calculate and write balanced equations, find the freezing point of a solute in solution, determine the heats of reactions and compare structural formulas to molecular shapes.

    Integrated Math Lab

    Students taking Integrated matha re required to take a math lab once a week. The lab is offered three time a week and student are invited to come all three days.

    Must attend at least one math lab but can come to two or all three.

    Mondays:  9:45 am –  11:00 am (Rancho Cordova)

    Thursdays: 1:15 pm – 2:30 pm (Rancho Cordova)

    Fridays: 10:15 am – 11:30 pm (Folsom)
