Vista Athletics

    Hi Vista Families,

We hope that everyone is doing well. Here is your athletics update.

As we plan for athletics at Vista del Lago in the coming months, there are a few things to be aware of. All three high schools in our district are in different leagues and, in some cases, different divisions. The regular athletics schedule from years past is not being followed this year. Because there are no playoffs, leagues are trying to get in as many contacts as they can with the limited amount of time they have. Don’t be surprised if Folsom High School, for example, has started a particular sports season and we have not. This is based on their league, which is different from ours. Vista’s sports schedule, including starting and practice dates, can be found here: Schedule 2020-2021. The schedule will be updated regularly as changes occur. Also, here is the sport-specific schedule for our league: CAL LEAGUE.

The schedule for athletes to begin practice and eventually, competitions are based on the color tiers found in the schedule above (Exception-Swim/Track). Due to facility issues, we are unable to accommodate all 900 athletes on the campus at the same time. We only have five picks up and drop off points at Vista, so this will be challenging as athletes come to school for practice. We are working with our coaches to work out a schedule that meets the needs of all. Please make sure you are in contact with your coaches and parent reps.

The district has approved sports in the purple and red tiers to compete in games. Athletes must adhere not only to STATE and COUNTY guidelines but their SPORT as well. Please remind your athletes they must adhere to the protocols in place which means staying with their teams and only using their coordinated entrances and exits, wearing a mask at all times, and remaining six feet apart. Also, athletes cannot participate with more than one team. With the new information that came out this week, STATE MEDIA RELEASE, this still contradicts County guidelines as it pertains to multiple teams and cohorts.

Information and guidelines are changing day by day. We will do our best to keep you updated. Thank you for your patience as we do our best to support our athletes.

Attention all student-athletes, coaches and parents:

We hope that all of you are heathly and well. Please help us get back to sports by doing your part to follow Social Distancing Guidelines, wear a mask, stay 6 ft. apart, and wash your hands often.

As we get closer towards the season:
All athletes must be registered on AthleticClearance.com before they can participate in a Vista sport.  Due to COVID-19 we are asking all families to upload their physical and emergency contact forms to their athletic clearance accounts.  Please email your coach if you are not able to upload your forms.
Visit your Sports webpage. Email your coach with any questions regarding your preseason and tryout dates/information.
