Theodore Judah Elementary Category 2 Volunteer Instructions

Category 2 Volunteers require a TB clearance (valid for 4 years) and LiveScan fingerprinting. If you have a chest x-ray for your TB clearance, you will need to complete a Symptom Questionnaire every 4 years.

Steps to become a Category 2 Volunteer:

    • Read the Volunteer Orientation Handbook. It’s available below in English, Russian and Spanish.
    • Pick up a volunteer packet from the school office and complete front and back of all pages. Please print neatly and use your legal name on the Volunteer Application. Check ‘New Applicant’ on the application. Turn the packet in to the school office.
    • The TJ Parent Coordinator will contact you when your application has been signed by the school Principal and is ready for you to pick up.
    • Make an appointment to be LiveScan fingerprinted. Go to https://www.fcusd.org/ and select Volunteer Info (left side of the page near the bottom), then click on the link to make your online appointment.
    • Bring the following to your appointment:  California Driver License, Completed CAT 2 Application, Fingerprint fees and Current TB clearance (If x-ray, bring Symptom Questionnaire to get clearance from Health Programs).  FCUSD has free monthly TB screenings.
    • Your photo will be taken for a Volunteer Badge. The TJ Parent Coordinator will let you know when your badge has arrived at school and hang it on the badge wall in the school office.
    • When you volunteer at school, you still need to sign in and out. Wear your Volunteer Badge and put it back on the badge well when you sign out.

If you are already a Category 2 volunteer at another school in FCUSD, you still need a TJ volunteer badge.  Follow these steps:

    •  Pick up a volunteer packet from the school office and fill out completely. Check ‘Badge Only’ on the application. Turn the packet in to the school office.
    •  The TJ Parent Coordinator will contact you when your application has been signed by the Principal and is ready for you to pick up.
    •  Bring your completed application to the District Office and have a photo taken for your badge. No appointment is necessary for badge photos.
    •  When you volunteer at school, you still need to sign in and out. Wear your Volunteer Badge and put it back on the badge well when you sign out.

If you want to check your volunteer status, TB expiration date, or have any questions please contact the TJ Parent Coordinator, Liz Ostdiek.

    Email eostdiek@fcusd.org or phone (916) 294-9175 x280145.
