To report an absence, call (916)294-9185 x655850. You can leave a message 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our attendance line. You can also email our school clerk at mkrpata@fcusd.org.

-
- Your student's first and last name
- Student's grade
- Teacher's name
- Date of absence
- Reason for absence (illness, doctor/dentist appointment, funeral, out-of-town, etc.)
- Your name and relationship to the student
- Your contact information
Each student is allowed 10 days of "IPV"= Ill Parent Verified absences per school year. If your son/daughter exceeds the 10 days, please provide a doctor's note to clear all absences thereafter or they will be marked "UNX"= Unexcused.
For doctor's or dentist's appointments, illnesses, or surgery, please request a note from your doctor's or dentist's office for the exact dates that your student will be out of school-bring all notes to the school office or email them to: mkrpata@fcusd.org
Late to School
School begins at 8:15 AM. Students who arrive after 8:15 must report to the office for a late slip and will be marked "LTE"=Late. After 8:45 AM, students will be marked "TDY"= Tardy.
Early Dismissal
Allow yourself an extra 20 minutes for an early dismissal request. Sometimes classes are out and about on campus, in the library, at PE, recess, or at lunch and it make take a few minutes to find the student, retrieve their items from class, and walk them up to the school office. Classroom instruction time is critical for student success. Try to make appointments during non-school hours.
Independent Study
Please plan vacations and family trips during school holidays (see FCUSD Instructional Calendar) Pulling students out of school causes disruption to their learning and can be very challenging for our staff. Please note, vacations are considered an unexcused absence unless an *Independent Study is requested and contracted.
*Independent Study, there is a 3-day minimum and a maximum of 14 days per school year. The Independent Study Contract Agreement must be signed within 10 calendar days prior to the independent study start date. There is NO Independent Study for the first two weeks of the school year and the last two weeks of the school year. Assigned Independent Study work must be turned in upon the student’s scheduled return to school, to receive attendance credit.
Students whose travel plans extend longer than 15 consecutive school days may be disenrolled and will have to reenroll upon return. Their seat is not guaranteed, and they may be overflowed if there is no longer room at their home school.
Please call, email: mkrpata@fcusd.org or visit the school office for more information about Independent Study Agreements.
