Updates Week of March 30-April 3
Grades If you check your child's grades in PowerSchool, you’ll see that I have made a change. I have left all the scores that were earned as of March 13th, but these scores no longer affect his/her grade. I have done this because the district has not made a decision about how we’ll manage third trimester grades. If need be, I just have to check a box, and the gradebook will be up and running again. Missing (M), absent work (AB) or assignments that are blank, please do not worry about that at this time. Until further notice, there’s no need to check Power School anymore. It will not be updated until further notice.
Grading Until further notice, assignments will not be graded. However, I will still score and/or offer feedback for the assignments that are completed and turned in online, and I will keep track of these scores. I highly encourage students to do the work and do it to the best of his/her ability. I understand that there may be hardships along the way, and I want you to know that I am here for your child. If your child needs to talk, just wants to share something with me, wants to Zoom privately with me, and/or needs help with school, just have him/her email me (through Schoology).
Schoology You should be able to sign into Schoology some time this week. It'll be important that students log into Schoology every day, especially starting after Spring Break. Students, go to https://fcusd.schoology.com/ and click on Log in with Google, but you have to be sure that you are signed in with your school Google ID and password. Once you log in, you have access to all your teachers' assignments and Google Classrooms. You should also have access to all the assignments I post, including assignments on Newsela, Scope Scholastic, and other apps I have planned for the future. Be sure to follow all the directions I offer. Again, you have to be logged in with your school Google info to get into these websites and/or apps.

Office Hours In order to be here for you and your child, I am setting up office hours. From 10-11 and 1-2, I will be checking my emails frequently and will respond quickly. The truth is, I’m next to my computer during all school hours, so it’s likely I’ll get back to you fairly quickly, but during these times (10-11 and 1-2), you will get priority. If you email me outside of these hours, I will respond within 24 hours. If you email me after 3:30 on Friday, I will get back to you by Monday. If you feel that it’d be easier to get your question(s) answered face to face, let me know, and I’ll set up a Zoom conference for us, or I can call you.
Zoom conference: I will be hosting 4 conferences on Tuesday, March 31st. Students only need to join if they have questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to see their peers. I have included the meeting link, ID, and password in my Google Slides and can also be found in Schoology. The times are 11, 12, 1, and 2.
Future communications: I know that I've sent a lot of parent emails this year, especially recently, and I'm sorry if it's been overwhelming. I want to be sure to keep everyone in the loop. Now that students and parents alike have access to Schoology, I will be using that as my primary platform for communication with students and parents.
Lastly, if there is anything I can do to make this an easier transistion for you and/or your child, please don't hesitate to offer me feedback.
