Independent Study
In order for your student to qualify for an Independent Study, your student must be absent for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14 days per school year. A two-week notice must be given to the office staff before the first day your student starts independent study.
Per new legislation and Ed Code 51744: 3 day minimum and a maximum of 14 days per school year and the agreement must be signed within 10 days of the beginning of the first day.
Parents must come to the office to fill out and sign an Independent Study Contract. All contracts are subject to approval by the principal and the teacher.
All work must be turned in the same day your child returns to school. If work is not returned on the same day, your Independent Study Contract is voided and your child will be marked as unexcused.
Independent Studies will not be granted during the first or last two weeks of school, per district policy, K-12.
We encourage you to notify your student's teacher, but this does not mean that you have been approved. You must contact the office!
