Welcome to Mrs. McCarthy'sPHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSThis year in Physical Education (PE), students will be given the opportunity to develop skills that will guide them towards becoming healthy and active for a lifetime. In addition, lessons will focus on the development of positive self-image and social skills, teaching the students to be respectful and responsible individuals.We want the students to be safe. Students should wear comfortable, conservative clothing on PE days. Your child will not be able to participate in class without appropriate footwear: closed-toe, rubber soled shoes, must have backs, no heels, and no wheels (preferably with laces).
If your child is feeling ill or has an injury, please send a written note to excuse them for the day. Long-term excusals (more than 1 week) must be accompanied with a doctor’s note stating what they physically can and cannot do. Additionally, after long-term injuries a doctor’s note is needed to clear them to participate in PE again.
If you would like to observe our class in action or volunteer, please email me to make arrangements. Volunteers must be cleared through the district prior to working with the students and applications are available in the office.
Finally, experts recommend children receive at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day so remember to help your children seek opportunities to be active outside of school. BE ACTIVE, BE HEALTHY, BE HAPPY!!!
