Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in a small town outside of Albuquerque, N.M. I began my teaching career at the age of 21 when I graduated with a B.S. in elementary education from Utah State University. I taught in Utah and Tennessee before moving to California.
While in Tennessee, I became a nurse in anticipation of a move to California, where there were no teaching jobs. I worked as a nurse in Tennessee, the San Francisco Bay Area and San Luis Obispo.
I earned my supplemental math credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and taught math at Atascadero Junior High for six years.
I have been teaching math in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District since 1990, starting at Mitchell Middle School. In 1992 I transferred to Folsom Middle School and then moved to Sutter Middle School when it opened in 2000. I was a teaching vice-principal at Sutter during my last two years there. I transferred to Folsom High School in 2006.
Following a life long dream , I attended a four-year night law school program while teaching full-time. I am a licensed attorney and operate a solo law practice.
I have two daughters, Jacquie and Michelle, who are Folsom High Graduates. Both of my daughters rowed all four years of high school and then became four-year collegiate athletes in crew.
Jacquie lives in San Francisco and works for a marketing company as a Senior Partnership Manager. She is a key member of the team that produces the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco and half marathon in Washington D.C.
Michelle continued her rowing career while she earned her MBA and now lives in Oklahoma City, training at the National High Performance Center. She has earned a place on the Senior National Rowing Team each of the past four years, with a focus on the 2016 Olympics in Rio. She will be rowing in Worlds in Amsterdam at the end of August of 2014.
I love living in Folsom and enjoy seeing my students and families in this great community!
