Hi everyone! (3/24/20)
I've been meaning to check in sooner but I've been sooo busy doing not much. Actually, that's not entirely true, I cleaned my garage (I wish you could see it, it's amazing!), I've formed deep, meaningful relationships with my cats (all 3 of them) since we're together ALL DAY now, I've run my dishwasher more than I could have ever imagined possible, my slippers are getting lots of use, and I had to rotate my mattress because my bed is getting extra use during the icky weather (who are we kidding, it's getting used even when it's sunny becuase naps are awesome). I wish I could say I've been exercising daily, but unless chores count...it hasn't really been happening - but that will change soon - I hope.
Anyway, I had a dream last night that I got to see my students - you were all in 1 classroom, which would be impossible unless the classroom was the size of the cafeteria - and in my dream I was so happy to see you I became very emotional...basically bawling. I woke up with a very heavy feeling today, hence this message. On the bright side, I did get to call some of my 3rd period families to reach out about technology and it was so nice talking to your parents and grandparents. You all come from very lovely people. But it made me miss you even more.
Tomorrow I will be talking to my fellow PE teachers about curriculum, and I've been working on Health stuff too, kind of. But what I do know is that I can't wait to teach Family Life from my living room! You will get to meet my kids and my cats, which one do you think you're ready to care for...? (the answer is not "kids" - which means we will be talking about why abstinence is awesome!!). If you have any doubts, I'll make sure at least one of my boys has a tanturm while I'm teaching.
Okay, I guess that's all for now. I'm going to eat some dinner that consists of Costco's amazing layered bean dip and maybe something healthy, like salad, or not, we'll see. There's always tomorrow. And I'm going to turn on my new favorite show on Netflix, Tiger King. No, I'm not joking, it's a hot mess, but also very entertianing, and educational: it's about tigers in captivity! (That's the excuse I'm going with.)
If you're bored, want to say hi, or have something important to communicte, please email me, I'd love to hear from you! And if you need a Chromebook, please let me know and I'd be happy to bring you one from school on Thursday. Delievery is free :-)
Sincerely, Ms. DeVore (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Dear Students, (updated 3/17/20)
I have updated grades (except for the tests my Health students recently took - some of whom still need to finish or make them up). Please do not stress about your grades at this time. If you have incomplete work you can do from home (health students) it would be a good idea to finish your assignments. You can either scan or screen shot them and send them to me via email if you would like points entered soon, or just save them for when we return. (email@example.com)
I will not be assigning any work until we get directives from the district. Now is a great time to rest, read a good book, bond with your family, try some indoor workouts found online or that you create, and relax. There's also a lot of great documentaries on streaming devices, I watched "The Dawn Wall" on Netflix last night - wow! I also liked "Charged". Anyway, I miss you, teaching my boys from home just isn't quite as fun :-) Take care, stay in, and stay well (mentally and physically!). Hugs from Ms. D
