The 2020 Senior Graduation Ceremony
The graduation ceremony for the students of the Class of 2020 will be held on May 28, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Prairie City Stadium. Graduates should arrive in the gym no later than 5:30 p.m. The stadium will be secured and not accessible until the gates open at 5:00 p.m. Admission is by ticket only. Tickets for graduation will be distributed during graduation rehearsal on May 27th. Each graduate will receive seven (7) tickets; five (5) tickets for seating on the home side and two (2) tickets for seating on the visitor’s side. The tickets will be color coded. A graduating senior must have provided you with a ticket in order for you to attend Folsom High School’s Commencement Exercise.
Graduation practices will be held in the gym/stadium on May 27th at 12:30 p.m., and in the stadium on May 28th, immediately following senior breakfast (approximately 8:45 a.m.). Both practices are required in order to participate in the ceremony and participation is restricted to students who have met all graduation requirements and paid all of their debts. All debts must be paid by May 15th, in order for your student to participate in the graduation ceremony, and receive his/her diploma.
Expected dress for graduation includes caps and gowns for all graduates. Caps and gowns have been distributed to seniors. If you have not purchased a cap and gown or made arrangements to borrow a cap and gown, immediately contact Karl Hanf, at Herff Jones, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 866-238-5336. Boys should plan on wearing a dress shirt, tie, slacks, and dress shoes. A dress or skirt and blouse and dress shoes, preferably low heels, is the expected attire for girls. Only school-issued adornments will be allowed (i.e., California Scholarship Federation cords and honor society stoles). No shorts; no flower, candy or money leis; no cap decorations; no non-school issued stoles, etc.
Diploma covers will be presented at the graduation ceremony. The actual diploma will be distributed from the Administration Building on Friday, May 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and again on Monday, June 1st through Thursday, June 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. If a student has an outstanding debt, he/she will not receive his/her diploma until that debt has been cleared. Also, if a student has borrowed a cap and gown, he/she must return the cap and gown to FHS administration on or before the deadline of Thursday, June 5th, in order to receive their diploma.
A picture of each graduate will be taken by Lifetouch Studios. After graduation, parents and students can view and/or purchase the pictures online at: www.events.lifetouch.com; then select “Find your Event” and follow the prompts.
Parking is available in the school parking lots and the nearby Safeway shopping center. Since parking is at a premium, please carpool if possible. Limited posted handicapped parking is located by the stadium. Graduation is indeed a ceremony that deserves respect for its traditional nature. We want to ensure that the dignity of the ceremony for our students, staff and parents is not compromised. The senior class officers have worked tirelessly to make this a special event. With your help and cooperation, graduation should be among the most wonderful memories of your son’s/daughter’s life.
